An operable balloon blind gathers its fabric upwards; a fixed decorative arrangement retains the gathered shape without providing the same height adjustment. Its rounded, fuller folds differ from the flatter horizontal folds of a Roman blind.
Fabric, proportions and daylight
Sheer and denser fabrics create different volumes when gathered. Check how much glazing the raised fabric covers, the desired view and available daylight. The arrangement should still allow the window to open.
Measurement, operation and care
Specify gathering, mechanism capacity and accessories together. Follow child-safety instructions for corded systems. Washing-machine capacity does not establish washability: the fabric, making and mechanism all need product-specific care guidance.
