What Are Pleated Blinds?

Pleated blinds fold into a compact stack and can be adapted to different window shapes. They offer controlled light and privacy, particularly at narrow or opening windows and where standard solutions are difficult to fit.

Cream pleated blinds fitted to angled and rectangular office glazing at Kocamanlar Alüminyum, Meva İş Merkezi, Ankara.

How do they work?

The fabric opens and closes in horizontal folds, gathering into a small space when not in use. Depending on the system, top-down, bottom-up or two-way operation may be available.

Where are they used?

Pleated blinds can be considered for standard glazing, opening sashes, narrow surfaces and, where a suitable technical system is available, unusually shaped windows. They can be useful in kitchens, workspaces, glazed balconies and conservatories where daylight and privacy need to be managed together.

What matters when choosing fabric and planning installation?

Fabric light transmission determines light control and privacy, while frames, handles, seals and opening clearances affect accurate measurements. Assess window geometry, system type and the mounting surface together during the site survey. A single pleated-blind mechanism may not suit every unusual window shape.
