Application summary

The aim was to create a strong window composition without making the spacious living room’s classic decoration feel heavy. Rather than repeating the same arrangement at every window, fixed decorative valances, operable Roman blinds and curtains were considered individually according to each opening’s position.

Project Application Details

Valances designed exclusively by Pile Perde, operable Roman blinds, lined classic curtains and bespoke tassel work were brought together in one composition.

Bespoke tassels, rosettes and curtain holdbacks completed the scheme’s classic character.

The room’s classic architecture was considered alongside its ceiling mouldings, chandeliers, timber surfaces and strongly proportioned furniture. Rather than repeating one arrangement across the three large window openings, the composition was balanced around each opening’s position and visual weight within the room.

Decorative valances designed exclusively by Pile Perde were proportioned to the scale of the living room and custom-made to hold their shape. Bespoke rows of tassels, decorative rosettes, key tassels and transitions between beading and tassel trims formed an integral part of the design.

The operable Roman blinds were made to continue the classic design language of the valances above. Their lining gave them a defined shape, a smooth surface and a substantial finish, creating a controlled appearance across the large windows.

Lined classic curtains at selected windows complemented the interior with full, carefully controlled draping. Tassel trims along the edges were coordinated with classic holdbacks and curtain ties in gold-leaf-effect and distressed white finishes.

Curtains were deliberately omitted from the central window opening facing the entrance to the living room. Varying the treatment at each opening preserved the sense of space and clear views while creating a balanced rhythm across the windows.
