Day and Night Blinds: Stripes, Light and Privacy

Alternating sheer and dense stripes move past one another to adjust light. This differs from a single-layer roller blind and needs to be considered against window dimensions and privacy expectations.

How the bands move

Changing the alignment of bands across two fabric layers changes the open area at the window. The blind can also roll upwards. For adjacent blinds, check band alignment and the gap between units before ordering.

Daylight and evening privacy

Aligned sheer bands allow daylight and a view; overlapping the denser bands increases closure. Do not assume full blackout or privacy under every lighting condition. Compare the sample in daylight and with internal lights on.

Dimensions, mechanism and access

Measure the mounting position, cassette depth, opening sashes and edge clearance together. A manual chain needs accessible, secure positioning. For motorisation, verify power and control compatibility for the chosen model.

Fabric and care

Coatings and band edges can limit the cleaning method. Obtain the care instructions for the fabric code before removing or washing it. Select fabric and mechanism around the actual window and use requirements.
