Post-Installation Curtain Checks

Post-installation checks confirm that the correct treatment is fitted to each opening, the track moves properly, and finished length and heading match the approval. For motorised systems, test individual and group commands, limits and user controls.
01

Why it matters at project stage

Installation completion is not the same as final handover. Record any point requiring adjustment, steaming or user instruction.

Measuring, making and installation are connected stages. When track centreline, finished length, heading, motor and pocket detail use the same approved information, the installed result is more predictable.

02

Information required

Check product and opening references, movement, track joints, finished length, heading and drape, open and closed positions, motor limits, control groups and user information.

A site survey verifies finished surfaces and actual openings; a drawing dimension should not automatically become a production dimension. Match the approved sample and system specification to the production record.

03

Reaching a project decision

Inspect open, closed and intermediate positions. Distinguish natural textile behaviour and acceptable visual variation from a functional issue, then assign any corrective action.

Use “Is the correct product at each opening” and “Does the track move freely” as decision gates for this subject. Compare any viable alternatives against those two project-specific questions, then document why the selected approach answers them.

04

Coordination through delivery

The architect or interior designer, site lead and curtain specialist should review critical areas together. Record outstanding work with photographs and opening references.

The installation area must be complete, accessible and sequenced correctly. At handover, review movement, drape, levels and the overall appearance with the project team.

Before handover, resolve “Are length and heading balanced” and “Are motor limits correct” with the named project parties. Record the answer under the relevant opening or room reference so a later site, material or programme revision can be assessed against the correct approval.

05

Recording and verifying the decision

For post-installation curtain checks, the approval record should identify the opening or room, current drawing revision, responsible party and date. Attach the dimensions, samples or system information needed to evidence “Has user guidance been provided”; mark superseded decisions explicitly rather than relying on verbal instruction.

The release checklist for this guide is: Is the correct product at each opening; Does the track move freely; Are length and heading balanced; Are motor limits correct; Has user guidance been provided. Any unanswered point remains an action with a named owner and decision date, not an assumed instruction to proceed with production or installation.

Points to resolve in the project

  • Is the correct product at each opening?
  • Does the track move freely?
  • Are length and heading balanced?
  • Are motor limits correct?
  • Has user guidance been provided?
